"Comedy fans will want to check out Goyband"
- Hannah Brown, The Jerusalem Post, Israel

"Lots of fun and laughter, too."
- Jeffrey Lyons, NBC

Goyband stars: ADAM PASCAL (Roger Davis in Rent); AMY DAVIDSON (Kerry Hennessy in 8 Simple Rules for Dating my Teenage Daughter); TOVAH FELDSHUH (Irena's Vow, Walk on the Moon, Golda’s Balcony); CRIS JUDD (Your Momma Don’t Dance); NATASHA LYONNE (American Pie, Blade, The Slums of Beverly Hills)

The story: Fading from the spotlight of his late 90's mega-fame, boy-band icon Bobby Starr headlines the grand opening of the world's first Glatt Kosher hotel-casino, Mazel Hotel. As it turns out, the real force behind Bobby Starr's curious invitation to this “Orthodox otherworld” is the hotel owner's persuasive daughter Rebekka who has harbored a huge crush on Bobby since childhood. Arranging for Bobby Star to play at her father's hotel might have started out as an act of rebellion for Rebekka, but when infatuation blossoms into romance, Bobby offers Rebekka a once-in-a-lifetime ticket to freedom from the constrictive life that threatens to hold her back forever.

In other words - Not everything is kosher in this Casino!

Goyband was so popular at the Jerusalem Jewish Film Festival that it sold out 2 screenings. Frustrated would be viewers then called the festival and complained - and the festival put up a 3rd screening, which was also full!!

Dan Bar Hava did a Q&A in Hebrew after each showing; we have some excepts of the Q&A on the site, so you can get a taste of what the audience thought of Goyband!

“Goyband” goes to the Holy Land for the Jerusalem Jewish Film Festival.
Goyband LLC announces the international premier of the feature film “Goyband,” directed by Christopher Grimm, at the Jerusalem Jewish Film Festival.

New York City 10/15/08 – Goyband, “a gefilte fish out of water tale,” will play at the 10th annual Jerusalem Jewish film festival, held at the Jerusalem Cinematheque from December 13th through the 19th, screening date TBA. Goyband’s Cast includes: Adam Pascal (Roger Davis in Rent), Amy Davidson (Kerry Hennessy in 8 Simple Rules for Dating my Teenage Daughter), with Tovah Feldshuh (Walk on the Moon, Golda’s Balcony), Cris Judd (Your Momma Don’t Dance), and Natasha Lyonne (American Pie, Blade).

“It’s full circle,” says Dan Bar Hava, Co-Writer/ Co-Producer of Goyband. “I was a young boy just after the 1967 war and spent months playing cops and robbers at an abandoned Jordanian military post that is now the Jerusalem Cinematheque - the same building where the festival is taking place!” Several members of the film-making team will be on hand at the screening, including Executive Producer Itai Horstock, and Co-writers/Co-Producers Christa McNamee and Dan Bar Hava.

Goyband’s Synopsis: Fading from the spotlight of his late 90's mega-fame, boy-band icon Bobby Starr is begging his agent Murray to land him a decent gig. What Murray does land for Bobby is a full week headlining the grand opening of the world's first Glatt Kosher hotel-casino, Mazel Hotel.

"Dirty Dancing" meets "My Big Fat Greek Wedding" with a touch of a hip hop "Fiddler on the Roof."
